A baby’s 1st birthday party is an event that most parents put a lot of effort into and usually plan with great care. It is understandable that you want to showcase your baby but try not to get to formal with the party, just try to make sure everybody has fun. There are really just a few things to keep in mind.
Party Planning Basics – Begin planning your party 4-5 weeks in advance allowing plenty of time for making online purchases, getting the food ready and enlisting friends and family members for help. Pick a theme, whether it’s a princess, pirate, or simply your favorite colors make sure you pick a theme and try to stick with it. This will also make purchasing your supplies easier.
Food – Try to have a buffet style table of food as this helps keep your guests relaxed because they can socialize and eat at the same time. Keep the buffet menu tasty but simple. Foods such as sandwiches, hot dogs, pizza, burgers, fried chicken, salads, bread, beverages and of course desserts such as cupcakes and cookies are great birthday party foods. Of course you can still go with a certain theme type food just make sure you offer more than one thing and don’t forget the sweets because we all know how much kids like them.
Party Supplies – When it comes to party supplies you will need to take into account the number of guests invited and then purchase your supplies accordingly. Next, you will need to remember your theme and then go for it. The recommended party supplies are:
Plates - Both dinner and dessert plates are good to have.
Games - Even though your baby is still too small to fully enjoy the party you can plan on having tons of fun games like Pin the tail on the Donkey, breaking Piñatas, Musical chairs and you can even have a mystery treasure hunt for your small guests to enjoy. Nobody enjoys losing so make sure all of your guests end up with some sort of prize and try to include all of the guests in the games.
